Come on in, Neighbors! And we thought last week was a bummer?! This week, we bid adieu to Tom Petty, the tragedy in Vegas, Harvey Weinstein, Cam Newton, more institutionalized sexism, Real Housewives of Dallas, and recommend some new podcasts for you. We promise it's not all doom & gloom!
Hey Neighbors! We have lots of great recs for you this week; recommendations for your eyes & ears, and not everything we talk about this week is a total bummer! Erin attends a media panel that bums her out; Margo talks VH1 shows; both talk of Netflix's GERALD'S GAME & ICE CASTLE trivia. (Bet you never thought you'd see those two titles in the same sentence!) We also talk of Gaga-Lady Gaga that is, and her Netflix doc, FIVE FOOT TWO, and get ready for Margo's dramatic reading from a memoir by some Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders (I'm sure Terry Gross did a Fresh Air on the subject.) Have a wonderful week, neighbors!
Howdy, Neighbors, it's officially Fall! And this week, Erin & Margo break down the CMT reality show, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Making the Team; Netflix's Jerry Before Seinfeld; & Margo seconds Erin's enthusiasm for American Vandal. Erin reviews a couple of recent shows--one Broadway; one comedy, and Margo talks a walk down memory lane. Stop by and check in with your favorite neighbors.
This week, the neighbors break down the week in continuing misogyny (still??? didn't everyone listen to Ep. #47?); Erin talks Netflix's AMERICAN VANDAL (#whodrewthedicks); Margo recommends a new podcast and Amber Tamblyn; and what's the worst thing to tell a woman....all this and we didn't even get to the Emmys! (Never fear--we'll do a roundup next week); and why they won't be seeing MOTHER! Enjoy, everybody!
Halloooo, Neighbors! We are back from our respective vacations with pop culture talk to spare! Margo went to Skywalker Ranch! And got a behind-the-scenes tour! Erin went to the beach and ate funnel cake! Each has recommendations to spare--some good, some not great. Margo saw the IT remake twice and gives her detailed review and has some podcast recs; Erin recommends a comedy special on Netflix and a true-crime book that is harrowing as hell. From the ridiculous to the sublime, the neighbors discuss it all this week.
Hey there, Neighbors! How's your week going? In this episode, the neighbors discuss Real Housewives (Auckland's where it's at, peeps!); ashes and what to do with them; the indie flick, PATTICAKES; and Erin & Margo review this week in toxic masculinity in a segment entitled, "This Week in Misogyny!" Enjoy this neighborly morsel because we're off on vacation until the 2nd week in September! Bon Vacances!
Hallo there, Neighbors! How are you keeping in this heat & humidity? We are taking comfort in pop culture, such as the Real Housewives of Dallas and Auckland (well, Erin's trying to convince Margo they're both worth a watch); Real Housewives of NY reunion Part I was a snore. Margo takes issue with sheet-caking & what it means to be a "1-take Osmond"; and Erin recommends the nonfiction book, "What Made Maddy Run?" by Kate Fagan. A sure way to beat the summer heat--hunker down in the AC and listen to your Best Neighbors!
Welcome, Neighbors! We have consumed a fair amount of pop culture this week so let's not waste any more time and get to the main course. Margo's sister got married! She tells us the deets of her San Fran wedding; good times with family, and the several movies she watched on the plane. Oh, and she had a celeb sighting on her flight back to NYC! Erin finally saw LION; finished GLOW; finally listened to MOGUL; and watched TO THE BONE (Way to go, Keanu!) on Netflix. And both neighbors agree that the Real Housewives of NYC finale went out with a whimper instead of a bang. Enjoy and here's to the upcoming week!
Have you heard the news? Where were you when you heard Countess Luann and Tommy's Cookies were no more? It seems like Countess Luann from Real Housewives of New York City and her husband of 8 months, Tom Gristedes, are filing for divorce. If those crazy kids in love can't make it, what hope do the rest of us have? But as saddened and heavy-hearted we may be, we must soldier on. They'd want us to. So, in that spirit, Erin talks about the Rhett Miller show at City Winery (with special guest, Dave Hill!); Margo explains why there's no such thing as "off the record," (Farewell to you, too, Mooch! Good riddance!) and how just how many people in show business are actually bat-sh*t crazy (spoiler alert---A LOT!!).
Welcome one and all to our latest episode, where we discuss RH of New York, Auckland, The "Mooch," narcissists, Tim Burton & Miss Peregrine, with a couple of documentary & podcast recs. Enjoy the dog days of summer, neighbors!
Oh, welcome, neighbors! You came on a good day--wait 'til you hear what the neighbors are talking about this week! Got a couple of music doc recommendations; 2 podcast recs; Erin's review of Dunkirk; but most importantly, they break down Countess Luann's fall in Mexico (it happened TWICE!). But also, we are treated to a dramatic poetry reading by Margo, as she reads the work of one Suzanne Somers, and if you aren't crying by then, Erin follows with a one-two punch of reading fro Marlon Brando's memoir. Can you take this much culture? Enjoy, neighbors!
Hey there, Neighbors, how are the dog-days of summer treating you? Our Best Neighbors are beating the heat with tons of great pop culture, TV & live shows. Margo recommends HBO's The Defiant Ones, mostly because of Jimmy Iovine's bad-assery; Erin doubles-up on live shows, with Reductress Live at the UCB/NY & Bitch Sesh Live in fabulous Philly. Margo takes the leap into Broadchurch (finally!), with rave reviews so far; Rooney Mara eats pie and Erin is aghast; Marg has some exciting Dr. Who News (Who Jackie?) and Erin needs clarity on Beyonce's twins' names---anyone? Is it Sir Carter or Sir Sir Carter? Asking for a friend.....Stay cool, neighbors!
Hi ya, Neighbors! What's up with you guys? Post-Fourth of July, the neighbors are plowing through series like GLOW and BLACK SAILS; & Margo talks Lena Dunham and the Lamby controversy; Erin tries to break down Donal Logue's missing daughter saga; we have a new podcast recommendation and we want to hear what you're listening to/reading/watching & loving. Also, how the neighbors will NEVER get on a tiny private plane, especially one piloted by Capt. Snorty McCokehead-guy. Listen to our 40th episode and this will all make sense!
Best Neighbors Podcast Ep 39
"They Call Me Baby Driver!"
Welcome & Happy 4th, Neighbors! What's on your agenda for the week? In this episode Margo reveals the secrets of Greenwood Cemetery, and Erin is all about the three Bs--BABY DRIVER; BLACK SAILS; & BROADCHURCH--loved, loving, loving all three.
There's also talk of the most American anthem that can be lovd unironically, some favorite concert memories, including a call-out at a Neil Diamond show, and those great story-songs of the 1970s. (Yes, we're 100 years old!) So go eat some potato salad, have a hot dog, & careful of those fireworks!
Hey there, Neighbors! This week has been jam-packed with things for our eyes & ears, and even mouths! Erin finally saw WONDER WOMAN and LOVED it; Margo was a guest on a Facebook Live show as well as a Fancy Food Exhibition (more about that next week!). We also break down the FARGO finale. Until (hopefully) next time, Mr. Wrench! And we dip in to the new Netflix show, GLOW; and the neighbors share their lists of the Top 25 Movies of the Century (so far). All this, and a story about a rabid raccoon baby--what more could you ask for?
Hello & welcome, one and all to our latest episode where the neighbors discuss Fargo; The Handmaid's Tale; how 21 Jump Street, the show, might not hold up; how Margo is disappointed in the Van Halen book, as well as in Van Halen's behavior; two fun Netflix docs to check out; some Facebook live events coming up; and painful dental surgery, ya jealous? Enjoy and have a lovely week, Neighbors!
Good Morning, Neighbors! This week, we recorded in the morning to switch things up. This week, we get political-adjacent, talking about Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, and a little Bill Cosby. Margo saw WONDER WOMAN and LOVED it! A rave review --we all need to go see it. (support strong women at the Box office!) We also talk a little FARGO, a little Real Housewives of NYC (spoiler alert: they're all monsters!) and the Sarah Silverman Netflix comedy special, "A Speck of Dust" (funny but not for the easily offended), & Erin has a couple of book recommendations. Have a wonderful week, everyone!
Hallo, Neighbors! You're in for a real treat with this new episode. Neighbors Erin & Margo welcome their first guest, published author, world traveler, and all-around wonderful gal, Shannon McKenna Schmidt! We talk about her books, the newly-revised book of literary travel, NOVEL DESTINATIONS, and her follow-up, WRITERS BETWEEN THE COVERS, to get the low-down on great literary-inspired trips and what it's like to travel full-time. The Neighbors also breakdown their top-media picks for the week, including podcast recs like Twisted Philly (Margo's going to be on that one!); Audible's Bedtime Stories for Cynics, and much, much more. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey there, Neighbors, this week we touch on all things media-related---Margo meets with a producer of the popular podcast, CRIMETOWN, and Erin attends a preview screening of HBO's THE WIZARD OF LIES at the 92nd St. Y; both neighbors talk about social media and its affect on popular culture, esp. lifestyle brands like Goop. There's a deep-dive into F/X's FARGO and its many Easter eggs from the Coen Bros. universe; Busy Phillips' Instagram honesty, and think about Bucket List. What are two items from your own Bucket List? Let us know at @bestneighborspodcast on Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook, and at www.bestneighborspodcast.com . We wanna know!
Here's to a great week!
Welcome, Neighbors! It's Episode 31 and our 'Mystery Episode!' Ohhhhhhh---spoooooky! Well, it's only a mystery to me, because I can't remember what we talked about in this one! I bet it had some Real Housewives BS, some Handmaid's Tale mishugas (sp?); I think Margo was on another podcast and her mom was in China, ehhhhhh, I'm sure it's scintillating and amazing listening, so trust us & give us a listen!
Hey there, Neighbors! Welcome to our 30th episode--who said it wouldn't last? This week, your best neighbors discuss FEUD's heart-wrenching finale; do dramatic readings from both Joan Crawford and Bette Davis; break down Real Housewives of NYC and what's wrong with them; & Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale. Hope you're all well and psyched to hear about Part II of the Real Housewives of Bev Hills reunion, and what a garbage person Kim R. is; the much-anticipated finale of F/X's FEUD; Margo's supermodel meet-up; and Erin attends her niece's fairytale wedding (a drone was involved!). Oh, and FARGO!! Watch out for falling air conditioners and have a great week, y'all!
This week, the neighbors discuss the great and not-so-great TV offerings, among the top are FEUD, GIRLS, and the anticipation for which they are waiting for FARGO. But some of the recent comedy specials? Wha-whaaaaa. Not-so-great. Also, there's a deep-dive into the recent documentary-series on Casey Anthony, which is fascinating and horrible at the same time. Also, we have a couple of great new podcast recommendations. Yay that it's finally spring!
Well, this week started off on a crap note, with Margo being felled by a stomach bug. But the good thing about being laid up is all the House Hunters International one can watch. Margo also tells Erin the harrowing tale of one United passenger who channeled Jennifer Holiday and said,"And I"m Telling you, I'm Not Going"--for real. Erin meanwhile has been rotting her brain with Real Housewives--there are 4 cities in play, people! Thank God Southern Charm is starting up again. Also, a few Netflix recommendations and a book suggestion to add to your week. Have a great one, everybody!
Welcome one and all to this week's episode of BNP, wherein the neighbors discuss Dave Chappelle's Netflix special; The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Diamond.& Rose party; the S-Town podcast; the feature film, Jackie and how it relates to Roseanne Barr; memories of '80s/'90s Philly; what it's like to Rent The Runway.
